明末 黃花梨羅鍋棖長方凳四張成堂

凳面椅盤用標準格角榫攢邊，抹頭見透榫。四框內緣踩邊打眼造軟屜，現用舊蓆是更替品，下有二根彎帶支承。邊抹冰盤沿平直，底壓一窄邊線。束腰與素身直素牙條為一木連做，以抱肩榫與腿足結合，下端伸展為線條明練的馬蹄足。牙條下羅鍋棖稍微內縮安裝與四足相交。

General surface wear and bruising, and minor retouching to the fragile extremities. The stool illustrated on the left of page 201 has two small areas of consolidation using metal mounts, to cover earlier chips, measuring 2cm and 1cm. As typical of Ming stools, the matting has been periodically replaced.

「一堂四椅，難能可貴，誰能得此，幸也！」

沒有靠背的坐具為凳。明末清初傳世品中款式頗多，大部份設計與明代桌形相呼應。此堂有束腰羅鍋棖馬蹄足凳，就與半桌的標準器設計無異。

明代各種座椅凳等形式，有尊卑等級的分別。椅具被視為較重要之座席，是府中主人與身份地位較高的賓客專用。較尊貴正式的場合也會用椅，而較隨便的場合便用凳。

此堂有束腰馬蹄足長方凳，是明代杌凳的典型設計，比例勻稱，是設計簡約純粹、線條優美明式家具的代表作。杌凳成對成堂製作，但經年累月，容易被分散。存世品中黃花梨杌凳得以四張成堂保留頗珍貴。一具典型設計的長方凳，可作比較，見於陳增弼，《中央工藝美術學院院藏珍品圖錄》，卷2：明式家具，香港，1994年，編號5。
