The canvas appears to unlined and is firm and stable. The paint surface overall appears to be in good condition with nice impasto and good detail. There is a small, vertical scratch of approximately 1/2 an inch in the sky, center right. There is a minor loss of approximately 1/2 by 1/4 in. and other minor surface abrasion to the lower edge which can be easily rectified. Inspection under UV reveals extensive strengthening and retouching to the sky and more minor, scattered retouching to details in the darks at the center, such as the figure on the white horse left of center and the shadow of the fallen figure right of center. The aforementioned scratch could perhaps be retouched, otherwise the painting is ready to hang in its present state. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame in good condition.
