the silver-wire inlaid rectangular ink rest with the ends asymmetrically rolled under, the top inset with a celadon jade in the form of a belt plaque, deftly carved in openwork with a ferocious dragon leaping amongst lingzhi and lotus sprigs, all against a background of reticulated scrolling clouds, the stone of a pale celadon colour with natural inclusions

The inkrest is in overall good condition. There are small areas of loose silver wiring to the wood inkrest and minute nicks to the edge and underside. There are also minute nicks to the openwork extremities of the jade plaque as can be expected. The catalogue illustration is a tinge whiter than the actual colour of the jade.
