the cylindrical vessel carved in high relief with openwork detail depicting the narrative 'Wang Zhi meeting the Immortals', with two seated immortals intently playing a game of weiqi,  the woodcutter Wang Zhi, leaning on the handle of an axe, observing from above, all under an arched pine tree and amidst rockwork, supported on three low bracket feet, the wood a rich reddish-brown color

Condition

There are several splits from the top and bottom, one of the splits from the rim has a narrow vertical layer of wood (approximate 1 1/2 inches) missing. The surface with traces of dark reddish-brown lacquer.
