Condition

There is a 7mm chip to the hand of one figure (seated, far right), and scattered chips and nicks to the extremities overall. There is a piece of material adhered to the base, and therefore the base of the boulder has not been examined. The color of the large bolder accurately represented in the catalog image, but of a slightly greener tone, with scattered opaque yellowish-cream inclusions.

拍品資料及來源

The narrative scene on this boulder likely tells the story of Wang Zhi, a woodcutter who encounters immortals playing weiqi in the forest. He pauses to watch them play for what seems like a moment, only to find that a hundred years have elapsed when he returns to his village. Eventually Wang too attains immortality.
