of square section with canted corners, the domed top deftly carved with immortals and acolytes amongst an idyllic landscape with fenced pavilions sheltered amongst cragged rocks and trees, all encircled by keyfret and a band of bats in flight amongst flowering and fruiting peaches, the sides of the cover and the box variously decorated with four rectangular panels enclosing further immortals and attendants in landscapes, all bordered by keyfret bands and reserved on a cellular diaper ground, the rims and the foot encircled by keyfret, lacquered black to the interior and base, the interior incised and gilt with four characters reading Xianshou baohe (Treasured Box of Immortality and Longevity), the base with a six-character reign mark

Condition
The rim of the cover with two opposing sections broken and restored, with visible areas of re-lacquer and overpaint. The box with similar areas of restoration around the rim and the foot. There are other smaller areas of re-lacquer and chips/losses, particularly to the extremities. General age cracks running along the interior of the box and cover, including three long cracks running along one side of the box, one of which deepened into a split as it runs towards the rim.
