each baluster body rising from a spreading foot with recessed base to a short straight neck with rolled rim, moulded around the body with three tiers of spiralling and overlapping petal-shaped panels enclosing leafy foliate scrolls reserved on a blue ground, all between chevron bands at the foot and shoulder, the neck with lotus scroll and chevron bands, the similarly painted domed cover with barbed rim and lotus bud finial

Both vases have long curving cracks running from the rim, one 42cm long and the other 47cm and there are scratches to the glaze. One cover has three areas of restoration to the rim (6.5cm by 2cm; 5cm by 1.8cm and 1.5cm by 1cm) and the other has one area of restoration 5.7cm by 2cm.
