Condition
This vase is in reasonably good condition, but does have a 2.8 by 8mm chip running up the vase to one corner of the base. There is also a chip to the underside of the base to another corner 1.3cm by 1cm. There are also three shallow chips to the edge of one side the largest 1.7cm by 5mm. There is also some fritting/glaze chips the to edge to two other sides and to five areas on the rim.

北宋神宗元豐五年（西元1082年），蘇東坡遊河北赤鼻磯，作〈前後赤壁賦〉二賦，本品出自成組「赤壁賦」瓶，瓶身繪畫赤壁賦文中描述之意境。Julia B. Curtis論述，此類瓶製於1680年代末至1690年代，構圖依照南宋繪畫風格，詳見，《The Porcelains of Jingdezhen, Colloquies of Art and Archaeology in Asia》，編號16，倫敦，1993年，頁144。
相近作例，多見世界各大博物館及私人收藏。上海博物館收藏一例，圖見《上海博物館藏康熙瓷圖錄》，香港，1998年，圖版31；。另一例曾展於《Chinese Blue and White Ceramics》，東南亞陶瓷學會，新加坡國家博物館，1978年，編號262；亦有一例售於倫敦蘇富比1981年3月17日，編號94；再比一例，兩度售於香港蘇富比1979年5月22日，編號187，繼售於1990年11月13日，編號214。北京故宮博物館收藏一例，型飾相近，帶嘉靖仿款，見《故宮博物院藏品大系：陶瓷篇·21·清順治康熙》，北京，2013年，圖版70；另一例售於紐約佳士得1995年9月21日，編號619。
