the ovoid sides rising to broad shoulders below a tapering neck, painted with two fierce five-clawed dragons flying through a dense design of lotus scrolls, all between a band of stylised ruyi below the neck and upright lappets at the foot, the neck encircled with a frieze of lotus scrolls, the recessed base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character mark within a double-circle

Condition
The mouth has two hairlines, measuring approx. 2.9 and 3.2 cm, the latter slightly filled-in on the interior. The lower body has an approx. 7.5 cm hairline with an associated glaze flake of approx. 0.6 cm. The base has an approx. 2.5 cm star crack. The jar has some typical surface scratches and wear, especially to the mouthrim and the lower body. There are also original firing flaws, including a vertical firing line of approx. 4.3 cm and an iron spot to the shoulder.
