of rectangular outline, the ground interwoven with flat strips of layered paper faced with gold leaf to form seven Lanca syllables, enclosed within a simple border, stitch mounted 

拍品資料及來源

Lanca is a sacred Buddhist written script reserved for invocations and prayers. The seven syllables are 'Om ma ni pad me hum' (homage to the jewel in the lotus) and 'hri' a seed syllable representing the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara.
