釋文：周仁熟与米元章交契。一日，米言：「得一研，非世間物，殆天地秘藏，待我而識之。」答曰：「公雖稱博識，所得亦真贗相半，特善誇耳。」米起取諸笥，周亦隨起，索巾滌手，若欲敬觀狀。米喜出研相顧，稱賞且云：「誠為尤物，未知發墨如何」命取水未至，亟以唾點磨墨。米變色曰：「公何先恭後倨。硯汙矣，不可用，為公贈。」繼歸之，竟不納。
近世墨工名手自潘谷、陳瞻、張谷之後，又有九華朱覲、嘉禾沈珪、金華潘衡，皆不媿舊人。關珪、梅鼎、張滋、田守元、曾知維，亦有佳者。唐州桐柏山張浩，製作精緻，膠法甚奇，遂壓京都羣輩。舊時隽品往往韜藏不出，余收數百笏，渡江後僅有存矣。
款識：敬一世叔大人屬，姪何紹基。鈐印：何紹基印、子貞
