of archaic ding form, the compressed globular body rising from three taotie mask cabriole legs, cast around the exterior with taotie bands divided by vertical flanges and set at the rim with two large handles, the base with a four-line calligraphic inscription dated to wuxu year (corresponding to 1718) and signed Chen Zhiguang, the domed cover cast and pierced in high relief with a pair of dragons writhing amidst cloud scrolls in pursuit of flaming pearls, the central section now missing and replaced by a smaller cover

This censer is in good condition, but there is damage (large chip 2cm by 1.5cm) to one foot and a small nick to another. There are some minor nicks to the rim, the sides, the handles and the rim of the cover.
