carved in the round, with a recumbent qilin beside a small bird, the qilin supporting a globular jar on its back, surmounted by a domed cover carving with a chilong, wood stand

Half of the bird has been broken off and restored and there is a restored chip (2.6cm by 1cm) to the rim. There is a small shallow chip to the rim of the cover (8mm by 3mm). There is also some rubbing to the underside of the qilin, on the surfaces that have contact.
