of elongated ovoid form, densely decorated with a dragon and phoenix writhing amongst ruyi-shaped clouds and flame wisps, all between bands of ruyi heads, keyfret and raised bosses, covered overall in a coral-red glaze, the base with a four-character Jiaqing seal mark in gilt, silver-mounted jadeite stopper

There are considerable areas of overpaint and restoration around the mouthrim, the foot and the extremities of the relief decoration (such as the dragon's head, the phoenix's feet and some flame wisps), possibly to conceal small chips/losses. There is general enamel wear and rubbing to the gilding, particularly around the extremities. The metal spoon is tarnished, and with a two-character mark reading Yuanmao.
