robustly potted with rounded sides rising from a straight foot to a flared rim, the interior incised with vaporous ruyi clouds in the centre, surrounded by two anhua phoenix with outstretched wings and long curling tails, the exterior left undecorated, all beneath a smooth creamy glaze with a slight tinge of yellow
Condition
The bowl has over-painting to approximately half of the interior and exterior and to another quarter of the rim extending approximately 3cm., down into the body.

暗花，工藝精巧，細緻繁複，技法至今尚未完全為後人理解，僅知藝匠於器身薄施瓷漿，上壓圖紋，幾近獨見於明初洪武至宣德，並僅製於景德鎮。暗花一詞常被誤解，以形容各式複雜難明之刻劃紋飾，然而本盌兼具暗花及刻劃紋，故而兩種技巧之別，更見分明。
參比一洪武年作例，暗劃鳳紋，Captain Vivian Bulkeley-Johnson收藏、Mount Trust及玫茵堂舊藏，曾展於維多利亞與艾伯特博物館，倫敦，1970年，編號88，圖錄於康蕊君，《玫茵堂中國陶瓷》，倫敦，1994-2010年，卷2，圖版648，曾售於香港蘇富比2011年4月7日，編號45。另可參考數例，同屬尺寸碩大之白釉暗劃紋作例，圖見John Ayers，《The Baur Collection Geneva.
