二千年前古柏樹的曲折枝椏、累累根結，經藝術家的潛心鑽研，繪成《樹研究：清奇古怪》此幅雅致精美之畫像。「清奇古怪」為四株屹立於蘇州鄧尉山下司徒廟的巨型古柏，歷盡滄桑。柏樹最早由東漢將軍鄧禹（公元2-48年）栽種，歷史悠久、奇形怪狀，古今以來啟迪無數文人墨客，更獲歷朝皇帝的青睞。《樹研究：清奇古怪》以「清」一樹為題，是四柏之中唯一直立而生、未受雷撃的古樹。曾小俊的單色畫作精心捕捉自然奇觀的不朽魅力，以「高聳挺拔、英姿颯颯」形容此樹及本作實是貼切不過。
