Ink and color on silk, mounted
depicting the victorious Qing army firing on and in pursuit of turbaned rebels along the banks of the Ili River, with foothills and habitations in the background, the leading commanders identified by name with cartouches beside their likenesses, including Sun Desheng, Liu Jintang, Liao Hanqing, Deng Chenzhong, Zeng Youde and Yang Baochang; together with an unmounted colophon bearing the date 3rd year of the reign of Guangxu, corresponding to 1877 (2)

Condition
Overall in good condition except the silk bears a tanned tone due to age.There are minor areas of touch up. There is some wear, staining, creases, foxing and scratches to the painting overall. There is a small hole on the painting and a tear to one lower corner. There is a hole to the mounted silk border.

光緒三年十月二十六日內閣奉。上諭。左宗棠奏、官軍進規新疆南路。連复喀喇沙爾庫車兩城一摺。本年七月閒。甘肅西甯道劉錦棠、統率所部。由吐魯番拔隊西進。回逆白彥虎、自喀喇沙爾竄渡開都河西岸。纏回均被該逆迫脅隨行。官軍於九月初一日入喀喇沙爾城。並於初三日將庫爾勒城收復。白彥虎復由洋薩爾一帶西竄。劉錦棠親率頭隊。疾馳數百里。至佈告爾回莊。逆匪列隊抗拒。官軍奮勇衝擊。先後斃賊千數百名。於是月十二日克復庫車城。其餘城堡回莊。收復無數。拔出被脅回眾。以十萬計。剿辦甚為得手。仍著左宗棠督飭各軍。乘勝進剿。將逆首白彥虎克日殲擒。肅清疆圉。此次出力將士。准其匯案請獎。陣亡之提督王慶福、提督銜總兵曾又得、都司楊玉昌、都司銜守備楊寶林、李景清。守備廖翰卿、千總孫得勝、康福、梁得勝、把總鄧臣忠、鄢得勝、著交部各照官階從優議卹，以慰忠魂。欽此。
