Carpets bearing a yuyong (for Imperial use) mark are rare. In our London rooms, one with a yuyong mark from the Qianqing Gong, was sold 12th July 2006, lot 114, and an example from the Taihe Dian with a beiyong (for use) mark, sold 7th November 2007, lot 239.

The Taihe Dian is one of the most important throne halls in the Imperial Palace complex. It was used by the Qing Emperors on celebratory occasions and to mark the New Year and winter solstice.
