the paperweight naturalistically cast with well defined scales and four caudal fins, grasping a pearl in its mouth, inscribed Shui zhai zi [from the water studio] on the underside; together with a bronze brushrest cast in the form of a cluster of grapes, possibly Japanese, Edo period
Condition
There are minor nicks to the twigs of the brushrest and possibly a stabilised break to the branch amidst the grapes. Both have minute dents and occasional pitting as consistent with age, but are in overall good condition.
