carved in openwork as a kneeling youth with arms held out to a falcon tethered to a string, the stone of an even pale-green colour with a patch of russet skin marking the falconry equipment hung against the boy’s back, the bird skilfully picked out from the dark grey portion of the stone

The carving is in good overall condition. There is some expected typical minor nibbling along some edges. The tip end of the bird wing is rather sharply cut but the feature appears to be original to the carving. The actual colour of the pale section of the stone is slightly more tinged with celadon compared to the catalogue illustration.
