描述

  • bamboo
the first depicting Liu Hai, his right arm raised holding a string of coins, his elated expression in humorous contrast to that of the three-toed frog he rides on, the second depicting two children squatted on an elephant, a third climbing onto the animal's tusk, the bamboo patinated to a warm reddish-brown colour

Condition

The coins on the right of Liu Hai have been broken with two pieces off and restuck. The section of the string originally attached on top of the coins is now missing. Liu Hai's left pinky toe is nicked. The left front foot of the frog is chipped, and both of the other two have been broken and restuck with the original pieces. There are also some minor nicks and expected age cracks. The elephant and children group is in overall good condition, with the exceptions of some small nicks to the elephant's toes and some typical age cracks, including a vertical one to the animal's face. The actual colours of both groups are less reddish than the catalogue illustration.
