描述

  • bronze
of globular form rising from a tapered foot to a slender neck and flanged rim, decorated around the body with a red and a green five-clawed dragon vying for a 'flaming pearl', writhing among billowing clouds enamelled in shades of blue, all against a bright turquoise ground

Condition

There are two dents below the green dragon with associated losses of enamels on the surface (approx 1.5 by 1.5 and 1 by 1 cm. respectively) and further small scattered restorations to the enamels with some old filling in areas. There is some surface wear consistent with age and typical original bubbling to the enamels. There is some expected tarnishing and rubbing to the gilding around the mouth rim and to the foot rim. Otherwise the vase is in good condition.
