the white Tara seated in vajraparyankasana on a lotus flower, crowned with a floral tiara, holding a lotus in her left hand, with Vajrapani flanked by two wrathful equestrian divinities below and Amithaba flanked by Chakrasamvara and a green Tara to the upper register, all finely painted with gilt highlights, the Green Tara seated in lalisatana in front of temple complex and surrounded by a variety of Taras and divinites including Mahakala, a white Jamabhala and Palden Lhamo below

Condition

The white Tara: There is some fading and surface wear overall consistent with age, there is some light staining to the body as well as vertical and horizontal creasing as visible on the photo, the gold is in remarkably good condition. The thangka has been remounted with the brocade cloth now overlapping on the painted surface. The green Tara is stained on the left handside, with two run of water damages, rubbing and wear to the pigments and creases throughout as visible on the illustration in the catalogue.
