宋 定窰刻花蓮紋罐

描述

  • ceramic
finely potted with rounded sides rising from a recessed base to a high shoulder and short tapered rim, elegantly incised in swift strokes around the body with two stylised lotus rising from scrolled leaves, applied overall save for the rim and foot with a pale ivory glaze, stopping above the knife-pared footring revealing a smooth white ware, the glaze pooling to a greenish colour on the base and around the neck, set with a later metal cover in the form of a veined lotus pad

Condition

There is a restored chip of approx. 1.5 cm. to the rim with a thin attendant hairline extending down the side on approx 10 cm (also showing on 7 cm on the interior). There is an adjacent minute chip approx 0.5 cm to the rim and further minor nicks. There is some wear to the surface glaze and typical imperfections including a couple gaps to the glaze on the base.
