superbly potted with deep rounded sides rising from a slightly splayed foot, applied overall with a rich glaze of milky lavender blue suffused with a pale crackle and transmuting to a mushroom colour at the rim, the interior decorated with vibrant splashes of purple, the glaze stopping irregularly above the neatly cut foot revealing a reddish-grey ware
Condition
There is a restored hairline crack of approx. 1.5 cm to the rim, but the bowl is otherwise in overall good condition. There are also some typical imperfections in the glaze including two burst air bubbles on the exterior, a few specks ad small unglazed patch of approx 2 by 0.5 cm near the rim on one side.

本品鈞盌，尺寸甚大，不為多見，色主天青，一抹紫斑，靜雅怡人。柯玫瑰於其書中，提及鈞窰技法，論其紫斑者，以銅著色，一抹而就，與天青釉色遙相呼應，盡顯抽象之美，詳見《Song Dynasty Ceramics》，倫敦，2004年，頁34。
鈞窰器，如本品尺寸者，多無紫斑，參考數件相類作例，斷代為元，藏台北國立故宮博物院，錄《故宮藏瓷大系·鈞窰之部》，台北，1999年，圖版68、73-79及85。亦見一例，藏東京出光美術館，載《宋代の陶瓷》，東京，1979年，圖版68。另見一例，關氏收藏，展《關氏所藏宋代陶瓷》，香港藝術館，香港，1994年，圖版37。
鈞窰者，宋五大名窰之一，窰址位於河南禹縣鈞台附近，燒造時間為北宋末至明，釉質凝厚，色主天青，點紫斑，多變化，自然暈散，渾然天成。至1970年代，經學者研究，鈞窰之天藍，非礦料所致，實窰火之下，鈞釉液相分離，於玻璃相介質之中，見微小顆粒及氣泡無數，光線反射，遂得現天藍乳光。
