The pair to this bowl was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 8th April 2014, lot 3127. The combination of decorative motifs and the rendering of the lotus blooms with their long stamen found on this piece is rare. Similarly, the Tibetan-inspired rosette adorning the interior of the bowl is rarely found on contemporaneous wares and may derive from archetypal Yongle and Xuande moonflasks, such as one exhibited in Imperial Hongwu and Yongle Porcelain Excavated at Jingdezhen, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei, 1996, cat. no. 65.
