Condition
The work is in good condition. There are scattered spots where sharp glass surfaces are exposed, which is inherent to the glass-making process and is visible in the catalogue illustration.

弗雷德·維爾森於1954年在紐約市布朗克斯區出生。2003年其個展「弗雷德·維爾森：道出我本色」（Fred Wilson: Speak of Me as I Am）作為美國代表參展第50屆威尼斯雙年展。
維爾森於2001年在皮爾查克玻璃藝術學校（Pilchuck Glass School）當駐場藝術家時開始接觸玻璃藝術。2009年，他與威尼斯貝倫格工作室（Berengo Studio）合作，以傳統十八世紀精美雕琢的穆拉諾鏡子為基礎，研究發展層疊鏡面的效果。如《馬克》之深邃映象，鏡子底面需塗黑色而非一般的銀色，製作黑色玻璃的難度也最高。鏡子本是日常生活中的普遍物件，然而維爾森通過這個特殊的顏色轉變我們對它的認知，在白人主導的文化裡反省我們與歷史的關係。《馬克》展現藝術家在國際背景下對膚色和非裔移民等種族話題的關注和表達。
