In-8 (207 x 143 mm). Demi-maroquin bleu-nuit, plats de percaline aubergine estampés à froid, dos orné, tranches dorées (Reliure de l'époque). Chemise et étui de Devauchelle.
Quelques rousseurs, les cuivres légèrement jaunis. Minimes frottements aux angles.
Après Chien-Caillou, l'œuvre la plus recherchée de Champfleury.
Édition de luxe comprenant 8 lithographies hors texte, dont 3 en couleurs (frontispice inclus), et 5 gravures sur cuivre en noir (dont une par Manet, p. 43).
On notera le portrait de Baudelaire (p. 133), qui fut avec Banville l'un des amis proches de Champfleury.
