彭薇將織品設計與傳統影像的抒情詮釋融合為一，成就備受國際推崇。本作出自藝術家作於2003至2011年間、極具標誌性的錦繡系列。此作品由一位元古董收藏家委約創作，故此深具個人歷史意義。

懷著對古人繪畫的喜愛之情，彭薇在友人的家中鑒賞一件清中期的《緙絲博古圖》（四條屏）後深受啟發而作此畫。畫名中提到的“博古”意為博古通今，不同凡俗，圖案多為古器物，比如花瓶、香爐、筆架、硯墨等，別致典雅，色調古樸，均是十分講究的文房器物。彭薇流暢地運用傳統中國書畫水墨的暈染及細膩的工筆，讓古文物在長袍中構造一個含節奏和邏輯的當代畫面。她構成的古代文物圖像向古風致敬，將古代文物的空靈典雅帶到現代。
