姜吉安，一九六七年生於山東煙臺。一九八七年 畢業於山東師範大學美術系中國畫專業。一九九二年 畢業於中央美術學院，獲碩士學位。現居北京。

姜吉安以《兩居室》的空間繪畫作品更多走入人們的視野，可以說是過目不忘，現實生活中的居室內的場景，通過光影的描繪創作出了一個似真似幻的空間。空間繪畫是他絹上工筆繪畫的延伸，但是人們通過它可以反觀它絹上的繪畫作品，通過對物體的描繪來表達自己的藝術觀念性。

作品《立軸》屬於姜吉安命名為〈現成品繪畫〉的系列作品，是一塊白絹描繪自身的結果。一塊完整的白絹，一部分作為繪畫的媒介（白絹），另外一部分通過藝術家特殊的處理手法成為了繪畫的顏料（燒製成顏料的白絹），又是繪畫的內容（畫出的絲絹立軸），又是雕塑（白絹製作顏料剩餘的殘渣組成），白絹始終貫穿繪畫的整個過程，完成了一次自足的迴圈。通過重組繪畫媒介、顏料、圖像的原有關係，構建了自己一種獨特的繪畫方式和面貌。《立軸》作品本身描繪的是中國傳統的水墨繪畫形式，但是姜吉安使用自己極具當代觀念的手法來描繪，是傳統與當代的一次對話。
