There are overall losses to the mother-of-pearl inlays on all four sides of the coffer and cover (some visible in the catalogue illustration). There are losses to the tortoise-shell inlays on the cover and overall losses to the black lacquer. The panels on two sides have become detached from the frame of the box on both narrow sides. The metal strings along the front and back of the coffer are lose. The two nails keeping together the cover to the left metal hinge are missing. The interior is lined with textile.
