Overall the condition of the roundel is good with wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. The roundel was originally made in sections which have more recently been fixed on a clay backing on the reverse with a metal construction for hanging. There are several areas of restoration to the glazing, particularly at high points such as the lion's nose, the bottom right tip of the escutcheon, the yellow fruits, the gherkins on the top right, and the poppies on the lower right. The outside rim was repainted throughout. There are some small losses, including to the snail's head, and areas of the glaze at the edges of the leaves and gherkins.
