Condition
The support is slightly bent, mostly notably in the corners. The surface is slightly dirty. There are fine cracks throughout, most visible on the sitter's neck. There is paint loss in the area of the artist's signature in the lower right corner and further scratches with some paint loss to the background along the top edge as well as to the centre of the right edge. There is a painted black line along all four edges and the work appears to be unvarnished outside these lines. Inspection under UV light does not reveal any obvious signs of restoration, but varnish prevents a more conclusive analysis. Held in a gold painted wooden frame behind glass. Unexamined out of frame.
