Original canvas. There is a layer of surface dirt and the varnish has discoloured. There is a vertical crack running through the canvas to the left of centre, with associated paint loss. There is a hole in the canvas approximately one centimetre in breadth to the right of the central tree. There are two small specks of paint loss to the sky in the upper left of the canvas. There are areas of raised craquelure in places throughout and the canvas surface is quite uneven. There are frame abrasions to the edges. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent signs of retouching. Held in a gold painted frame. Unexamined out of frame.
