伊萬•納瓦羅以霓虹燈、熒光燈及白熾燈創造出各種充滿社會及政治意味的光雕塑而蜚聲國際。2009年,他代表智利參與第53屆威尼斯雙年展。其作利用鏡子與光線令觀者彷彿置身於無窮空間之中。隨著距離的延伸,光與影也逐漸模糊,營造視覺層次上的美感。這些深淵似的作品與其兒時曾被誘拐的經歷有所關連。藝術家在智利軍事獨裁者奧古斯圖•皮諾契特的統治下成長,曾經深深體會專政之控制與壓迫。當時政府為了把市民留在家中進行隔離,總會切斷電力,所以小時候的納瓦羅早已習慣了黑暗的環境。在他後來的藝術語言當中,無論是所選擇的媒介,還是這些光雕塑背後的意義,都可見早年政治影響的痕跡。「我的所有作品都與操控活動有關,而控制電力就是控制人民的一種手法。」

《來》(2010年)這件作品不僅操控光線,而且左右觀者的感知。平面的霓虹燈雕塑在鏡子中一望無垠,觀者仿若置身於空蕩長廊之中。光雕塑展示的「Come」字樣,好似催眠般引導觀者「來」至深處。由單向及正常燈光與鏡子巧造出來的幻象,綴以紅色霓虹燈,氣氛温馨愜意,更添誘人魅力。
2013年1月至5月,倫敦海沃美術館舉辦廣受歡迎的〈Light Show〉展覽,其中有一件類似作品,利用一系列上世紀六十年代迄今的雕塑及裝置藝術作品去探討作品與光線間關係。展覽中每件作品均在其周圍塑造出自己的空間,通過控制光顏色、光照時間、光強度及知覺現象,使觀者沉浸其中。
