Maker' mark F.K. on brooch fitting, French import mark for Nice on the pendant fitting. Brooch stamped 56 zolotnik for 14 carat gold, pendant fitting with French import mark for 14 carat gold. Brooch pin and hook detachable. The painting has faded and shows signs of exposure to moisture. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 12.00 - 13.00 carats, on average of G-H colour and VS-SI clarity (few I), as gauged and graded in mounting. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. In good condition. Gross weight approximately 39 grams.

It is likely that the portrait in this jewel depicts a member of the Russian Imperial Family. 

Friedrich Köchli founded his company in St. Petersburg in 1874. The company specialised in gold cigarette cases and fine jewellery, and particularly in cabochon sapphire and diamond encrusted jewels.
