Condition
In good condition with some gentle scratching to the gold, commensurate with age. The cabochon sapphires range from medium-deep to medium violetish blue, eye-clean to moderately included with a few stones exhibiting surface-reaching inclusions that are visible under close inspection. This piece is a rosary that has been turned into a necklace with a later added clasp. The center diamond inscription reading "IHS," which stands for "Iesu Hominem Salvatore," translated in English as "Jesus, Savior of Men." Partial maker's mark for Frédéric Boucheron on the link attached to the heart-shaped cabochon sapphire. Scratch number 16431 on the side of the cross. Length of pendant approximately 1 1/2 inches.

此條項鏈所鑲之附鐫刻鑽石代表了十九世紀末鑽石切割的罕有高工藝。Henri Vever在其為十九世紀法國珠寶所作之專著中提及，1900年於巴黎舉行的世界博覽會上……「Boucheron展示了別針、戒指及其他珠寶，中央均鑲一顆附有飾紋或花卉鐫刻的鑽石」。 負責這些鐫刻鑽石珠寶的是Bordinckx先生，他在Boucheron先生的支持與鼓勵下，堅持並發展此鐫刻鑽石工藝，兢兢業業逾二十五載。欲欣賞其它Bordinckx作品，見Giles Neret所作《Boucheron》，頁26-27及頁51
