Condition
Rubies of Burmese origin cannot be imported into the US. This piece contains rubies of Burmese origin and therefore cannot be imported into the US. Please contact the jewellery department for further information or see our Important Notices.
Accompanied by SSEF report no. 76961, stating that the ruby weighing approximately 2.7 ct, measuring approximately 8.75 x 6.95 x 5.00mm, is of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating.
Please note that Sotheby's is not responsible for the accuracy of any estimated weights provided by gemmological certificates. According to the receipt from Fasoli, dated March 1996, the ruby is stated to weigh 3.10 carats and the diamonds are stated to weigh a total of 4.27 carats.
Signed Fasoli and inscribed ct 3,10 to the inside of the band, referring to the stated carat weight of the ruby. Italian maker's marks from Milan. Italian assay mark for platinum. The ruby is red and of medium strong saturation, with typical inclusions, some surface reaching, some abrasions, nicks and cavities visible under x10 magnification, the majority on the pavilion facets - not noticeable when worn. Diamonds on average G-I colour and VS clarity. Sign of normal wear to the metal commensurate with age. In good condition. Total gross weight approximately 10 grams.
