拍品資料及來源

The shape is derived from Buddhist kundika vessels and to the cult of rosewater sprinklers so popular in the cultures of the Middle East. The present example has a prunus branch as a handle and the liquid is poured through the phoenix head. There is an interesting illustration in Wang Qi's Sancai tuhui (1607), showing a similar vessel as an attribute of a Buddhist deity.
