保羅·狄森（Paul Ditisheim）1968年生於拉夏德芳，是名門之後。知名手錶品牌凡爾根（Vulcain）便隸屬狄森家族，美國總統如艾森豪威爾、杜魯門、尼克松和約翰遜等都是其忠實擁躉。當時引領瑞士製表行業潮流的，是一個由實業家組成的小圈子，狄森家族便是當中之一。保羅·狄森曾就讀於拉夏德芳的鐘錶學校，13歲那年獲得榮譽文憑。其後他隨各知名鐘錶工匠受訓，並為自家品牌凡爾根（Vulcain）工作，1892年他開創了自己的個人品牌：鐵達時。

保羅·狄森被尊稱為其時最才華橫溢的鐘錶匠、創新家和企業家。

他通過研究大氣壓與磁場對計時器的影響，在新一代計時器的發展過程中起到了關鍵作用。附加擺輪也是他的全新發明。歸功於此，保羅·狄森才製造出歷史上最為精確的計時器。1903年，他製造的手錶在英國泰丁頓及瑞士紐查圖皇家天文台的多項權威測試中創下最精確的計時記錄。1912年，保羅刷新泰丁頓皇家天文台的計時紀錄。他同諾貝爾物理學獎獲得者查爾斯·愛德華·紀堯姆合作緊密，後者正是Guillaume擺輪的發明者。貝桑松天文台的M·安德雷德教授稱，狄森的手錶「是現代計時法中最重要的進步」。
