of cylindrical form, the cover well painted with an elephant, depicted in profile, turning its head towards its back legs, the wrinkles of the voluminous folds of skin accentuating the movement, the sides with pendent lappets, the interior with an unglazed recessed ridge to fit the top, the sides painted with floral sprays and a key-fret band around the base, six-character mark in underglaze blue within a double circle (2)

The cover has fritting around the top rim edge. The box has several minor shallow chips to the base section above keyfret band. There is a 1/4 in. (0.6 cm) firing fault to the base just inside the footrim.
