Condition
The overall condition is fairly good with the exception of expected age cracks and minor refills, especially along both of the long sides of the floating top panel. There are also minor losses at the joints. Apparently all of the original pieces have been preserved with no later replacement.

This finely carved table is unusual for the two square-sectioned legs, which conjoin at the bottom and form a square finial, a feature seldom seen on 18th century furniture. Compare a table of this form and design, offered at Christie’s New York, 11th May 1981, lot 598; and another, but carved on the apron with a flower scroll, sold at Christie’s Amsterdam, 23rd October 1986, lot 294.
