the compressed globular body supported on a slightly flared foot, surmounted by a waisted neck and an everted rim, the neck flanked by a pair of angular strap handles with ruyi-head terminals below a horizontal raised rib collaring the neck, three further ribs encircling the upper and lower bodies respectively, applied overall with a raspberry glaze with unctuous purplish-blue splashes and spots, the underside dressed in a thin coffee-coloured glaze covering the incised four-character seal mark, wood stand

Condition
The vase is of very good condition except for a few burst bubble-related glaze flakes to the mouth rim, the largest one of 0.2 x 0.35 cm.

此件窰變釉瓶之造形極為少見，現知著錄唯有一例，尺寸較小，曾二度售於香港佳士得2003年10月27日，編號704，及2013年5月29日，編號2107。此器型富華端正，滿施源自鈞瓷的窰變釉彩鮮明飽和，釉面流動變化，則更增添一分律動美感，仿古之意中亦現新穎。
雍正帝偏愛鈞瓷，曾詔命燒造仿古鈞瓷，及研發其他相類釉色。1732年景德鎮御窰廠燒造的瓷器名單中，就分別有九種仿鈞之紫、紅、藍釉器，為燒造這批仿鈞瓷，宮廷御藏之鈞瓷亦被南送至御窰廠以作摹本（見 Stephen W. Bushell，《Oriental Ceramic Art》，倫敦，1981年，頁194ff）。此瓶之紫紅色窰變釉就是當時研發出的新釉色，其釉彩自由流動、潑灑之姿為一大特色。
北京故宮博物院藏有二器形相近之雍正窰變釉瓶，瓶身作模印紋飾，瓶頸略小，無作雙耳，其一刊載於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集．顏色釉》，香港，1999年，圖版177，另一瓶錄於《清代御窰瓷器》，卷1（下），北京，2005年，圖版133；南京博物院亦有一例，曾展於《清瓷萃珍：清代康雍乾官窰瓷器》，香港中文大學文物館，香港，1995年，編號36。還有一進類作例，梨形器身，瓶頸較短且寬，肩部作雙弦紋，雙耳獸面銜環，刊錄於康蕊君，《玫茵堂中國瓷器》，卷4，倫敦，2010年，圖版1809；靜觀堂收藏曾有一瓶，二度售於香港佳士得，1996年11月3日，編號564，及2000年4月30日，編號596。
