The cabinet is in very good condition with the exception of minor shrinkage to the doors, as consistent with age. There is a possible stained area to the upper part of the left door. There are scratches to the interior due to use, and minor dents and wear around the foot.

綜觀中國硬木木材，最具價值者，當數黃花梨。其色澤明豔，紋理清晰，兼帶微香，乃明、清時期上乘家具之絕佳造材。藝匠巧用此材特質，製成家具平素光滑，古雅純樸，突顯其自然美態。黃花梨木以海南降香黃檀為上品，其色澤甚廣，可從淺黃到紫赤。越南、老撾、緬甸、柬埔寨亦有出產，唯與海南比較，紋較粗而色略暗。時至清朝，黃花梨尤得宮廷珍視，乃御用家具之經典造材。

胡德生論述，黃花梨家具揉合藝術美感、工藝創思、實用價值，極能代表中華文化之深厚傳統，故獲各方鑑藏家冠以「東方之珠」美譽。參見胡德生，《故宮博物院文物珍品選集•明式家具卷•清式家具卷》，冊2，北京，2008年，頁578。

圓角櫃，乃經典中國家具造型，典雅秀麗，流行於明清兩朝。有關中國木櫃工藝發展，可參考韓蕙，〈Cabinets and Shelves Containing All Things in China〉，《Journal of the Classical Chinese Furniture Society》，冬，1993年，頁4-29。書中論及一圓角櫃例，尺寸碩大，出自Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art收藏，作者論述，此類木櫃自十五世紀開始漸成常用家具（前述出處，頁13）。
