the ovoid body rising from a spreading foot to a tall waisted neck, the rim extended forming the spout, set with a loop handle on one side, painted with landscape above a floral band, the shoulder with a band of cherub heads below lappets, the neck with European flowers, lacquer cover and Japanese wood box

Condition

The ewer is in good condition with the exception of fritting to the rim and front edge of the spout, the side and tip of the handle, minor glaze firing imperfections including a 5mm., diam., glaze pull to the side of the body and kiln grit to the base of the foot. Please note there is a label on the box stating: 'Collection of Mr. Kuroyanagi, Japan. '
