The box and cover are in good condition with the exception of re-touching to the red lacquer, in particular to the edges and corners, light scratchies and rubbing to the black lacquer base.

本剔紅雕漆盒模仿線裝古籍造型，雅緻華美，實屬同類漆盒之佳例，乾隆帝尤其喜愛此造型。此類漆盒多綴花卉紋飾，然則本品雕繪山水紋 ，為難得之珍品；同例圖錄於《故宮博物院藏雕漆》，北京，1985年，圖版395；另一例藏於天津博物館，圖錄於《中國漆器全集》，第六冊，福州，1993年，圖版221；另有一例售於香港佳士得2003年10月27日，編號784；例四於香港蘇富比2005年10月23日售出，編號390，其亦正為是次拍賣，編號48。
