the recumbent animal well carved with the beast's head turned sharply to the left, its mighty horns curved back atop its broad head, its bushy tail wrapped around its left flank and legs tucked beneath its body, clasping a long millet stem in its mouth, the stone of a rich mottled emerald-green tone
Condition
Three areas of loss to one of the hindlegs, measuring 0.9x0.5cm, 0.2x0.2cm and 0.2x0.1cm. There are other smaller chips along the extremities, including the edge of another hindleg and the tip of a leaf on the millet spray. There are natural veins to the stone with associated flakes, including one approx. 10cm running from the raised front leg to the base. The stone is of a darker tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
