the globular body rising from a spreading foot to a pseudo stepped cover surmounted by a small knop, the shoulder set with six tubular loops conjoining to a coup pierced with seven apertures, brightly painted to the exterior with three Buddhist lions at play with brocade balls, all below floral, ruyi and chevron bands, the loops decorated with a basket weave design and the coup with a foliate band, encircled at the foot with stylised foliate strapwork

The lower side of the coup is missing and this should be enclosed to allow liquid into the body of the vessel. There is also a 1.2cm by 3mm chip to the rim and an associated 3cm crack. There is a 3cm crack running up from the foot that runs into a horizontal crack running around the whole upper section of the foot. There is some general degradation to the glaze which may have been caused by sea water.
