of square section, the pear-shaped body rising from a spreading foot to a flared gilt-bronze rim, the shoulders flanked by a pair of gilt-bronze animal mask handles, brightly decorated against a turquoise ground to each facet on the body with taotie masks, the shoulder with a confronted pair of archaistic phoenix, encircled at the neck by upright lappets enclosing kui dragons, the foot decorated with horses galloping amongst flame wisps above cresting waves, all divided by floral bands

In good general condition. The upper body leading slightly to one side. Small areas of wax infill to flaked or lost enamels all over the body. Possible re-gilding to exposed bronze mounts.
