何懷碩

款識：
師林圖。

南田翁畫鑑謂《師林圖》為迂翁最奇逸高渺之作，予未得見也，顧鶴逸亦未之見而作之謂。光緒初年，於吳閶獲遊，其地嵌空玲瓏，迴環上下，皆出人意表，洵非俗工所能位置。其時當兵燹之後，而能巍然獨全，殆亦神靈呵護所致者耶！近聞為有力人士，分運其石，各為己有，非復昔時畦徑矣。嗟乎！此數百年高人逸士精力所經營，為今世之奇觀，乃不毀於𩬊逆，而毀於承平有力人士乎。山谷云，生子可百不為，惟不可俗，以視斯人為如何耶。

何懷碩的繪畫和書法作品當中反映出的技法與巧思都備受推崇，他在美術史和藝評理論方面貢獻同樣良多。《師林圖》是一幅與十四世紀一座中國古典園林同名的經典鉅作。石頭上繁複如迷宮般的綠茵上點綴著星星點點的水墨筆觸。畫幅瀰漫一種藝術家典型的憂傷情緒，呼應了題款中對過往國富民強、燦爛歷史的哀悼與追憶。此作將繪畫、書法與哲學思想融入到當代藝術中，足見何懷碩的高超技藝。
